I suspect a bigger problem with universities is that whilst globally there remains a salary premium, the disparity between the size of that premium does call into question the uniformity of the fees. If unis are simply businesses selling premium jobs, why is the fee the same for a small premium as it is for a financial services type premium.
On top of that I know one student friend of my daughter who hopes to finish his first degree after 3 years turned into 8 as departments closed.
