I am so embarrassed right now.
I’m eating my sandwich at my regular spot at the bench.
Out of nowhere, this woman—who I don’t know—walks up me, takes off her headphones, and say, “Hi!”
And my immediately thinking she needs help or assistance. So I ask her, “Do you need directions anywhere?”
She doesn’t say anything, just stares at me.
Then I realized I didn’t say “Hi” back. So I correct myself.
“Hi!” I said.
She shakes her.
I realize I must have missed another social cue. So I’m wondering, what could it be?
“Oh, sorry,” I show her my wedding ring, “I’m married.”
“Just stop!” she said, and walked away.
