I grew up in a strong Christian household and there were times I was burnt out on “church” becasue we were there so frequently.

Which is to say we attended an exegetical Bible studying church.

And it really wasn’t until the last few years that I’ve learned how man has tried to control the people through the Bible and “religion” in general (albeit per some convos I’ve had on Nostr with others, I don’t believe being a “Christian” is about religion, rather a relationship!)

But yea…actually desiring to study God’s Word, even when I grew up with it, is another level deeper of my relationship with Him through Jesus.

Over the last couple years I read three books that really set this desire in me:

1. Beautiful Outlaw - John Eldridge (profile of Jesus)

2. Wild Goose Chase - Mark Batterson (profile of Holy Spirit)

3. Unseen Realm - Dr. Michael Heiser (profile of God through lens of ancient Hebrew culture)
[still working my way through #3 as it’s deep]

But those three books allowed me to see my relationship with our triune God in a new light.
