The problem with trans actors is that they have to act through two layers of facade: their gender ID and the character they're playing. Many actors cannot perform two layers successfully, even when their "authentic self" doesn't hinge on one. TIPs get overly caught up in performing their chosen sex stereotypes and their characters become lifeless. They stay at the surface level to protect their egos.
