I wonder if the poor reliability of the mainstream news media is part of the problem. I know from personal experience a news report as given on TV news is very different from what those involved/witnesses reported. Even to the extent of getting the location wrong ....
Why listen to factual inaccuracies interspersed with opinion & forecasts of future events based on briefings? It doesn't inform you, it's worse than Pravda in Brezhnev's day.
