The solution I once proposed was never adopted (basically a shallow WoT with an implementation similar to that of badges).
Also, some replies are never spam: those who took part in the conversation up to the current post and those followed by them. Clients don't need to filter those.

More can be done, but the problem will likely not be solved.

There is a kind of people that see a tool with the potential of furthering fundamental human rights and decide to exploit it in the worst way possible.
