I was carrying some bulky tools on the train this morning, and the guy on the other side of the aisle just randomly offered to put them next to his seat which helped a lot. And it got me thinking that our basic impulse when we see each other struggling is to help one another isn't it, to offer to help when someone is carrying something heavy or awkward or to hold doors for people with their hands full.
