Free will's an awkward one, because on one hand there are obvious things you can do to avoid negative outcomes (Don't appear/act like an easy mark/victim etc) but on the other hand we are all just reacting to an almost infinitely long and complex chain of events and stimuli. It kind of exists in practical terms but kind of doesn't when thought about. You can easily get fucking butchered before leaving the womb, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't stay aware of threats if you survive long enough to understand them.
