oh it's very real. mine came from the wreck of a ship called the douro that sank in 1843. they are not all that rare because millions of all sorts of styles would have been made.
what struck me was how small they are. they are called bracelet money but they wouldn't fit on a childs wrist. amazing too that such a small amount of bronze was worth a whole darky.
