Unfortunately I'm going to take a Goodwin's law risk here, but I know people who were impressed and happy when Trump first asked "do you think our country is so innocent?".

I thought of the Weimar republic instead of appreciating him for actually saying something true. Because intention does matter. I'm sure there was lots to criticise the Weimar republic for, and the nazis had good points.
