#WordWeavers Nov. 2 - Share something unusual about one of your characters’ lives.
The refugee MC and her siblings in the big WIP have a very distinct look compared to most people in her area (roughly modern North Korea-China border) because their mother is from the southwest of the Korean peninsula, which my research tells me was originally settled by people who migrated from Southeast Asia during the prior ice age. As a result the MC and her siblings are darker-skinned and rounder-eyed than their fair-skinned and narrow-eyed Northerner neighbors and their own Northerner father, features that make them stand out in a crowd and earn them the occasional unwelcome reaction from fetishization to hostility. People also tend not to believe their dad is their biological father, despite each sibling having some of his looks.
