Anyway actual conversations I've had with Malaysians about the USA over the years (this is sparked on what's going on apparently on xhs - but not directly, in that obvs we're being made aware of it too, so there's been Conversations):
- "you mean they don't even have general (public) hospitals??" (This is during the Obama campaign no.1)
- "people sell plasma?? Blood??"
- "there's no interbank transfer??" (Ok you were expecting this one)
- "don't they have maternity leave?"
The funniest very Malaysian one though:
"If Americans are thinking China's schooling is better, what does that make ours??" (Because PRC parents do send their kids over here)
