i won't belabour the point further but the writing is all like this. as an editor (of a highly regarded, not to mention extremely tastefully typeset, cultural periodical you could be reading instead) i'd have a few notes:
— the quasi-journalistic affectation of short declarative sentences doesn't work. you're not hemingway
— 'x after x' is another overused cliché. just say there were a lot of replies
— f you need to show someone's writing is bad, just quote them
