We need safe and legal access to Abortion.
In many countries, both those who are pregnant and medical staff, face legal consequences for having or performing an abortion. Such as in El Salvador, where prison sentences can be as long as 30-50 years, even if the health or life of the pregnant person is at risk.
Even in more liberal countries, abortion is associated with many hurdles and risk to health and liberty. Finding a doctor, compulsory counseling, high costs, and long waiting times.
People who are already marginalised, especially the poor, are particularly discriminated against. Abortion is expensive, especially if you are forced to travel to another country or state to have the procedure. The more difficult it is to have an abortion, the more dangerous it becomes.
Our bodies should not be governed this way. Everyone should be free to decide about their own body and reproduction. We must overcome the stigma of abortion and create access to quality healthcare.
We need sexual self-determination for all now! We need freedom to choose!
