Much as I love the Barrett era Floyd, from a psychedelic perspective, I found Floyd, Hawkwind et al pretty cringe and studenty.
Way back in my youth, we'd done a load of mushrooms and a friend put Floyd on, the words 'Jupiter and Saturn' emitted from the ghetto blaster, it was the most hideious sound ever created by human kind to my ear. After I stopped laughing (which may have been a while,m know knows) I put some Proto-Jungle on and all was well with the world.
