Cloudflare just confirmed the feature hasn't been enabled since the 10th of March of this year, but so far they can't explain how I've only just now received a charge for usage of the feature lol... this is crazy

Something incredibly fishy has just happened to me with Cloudflare…

I received a “$4.50” charge related to a feature I don’t even use. This charge is when you’ve used up the free credit and then get billed per million.

The thing is, I have not used this feature in months or almost a year. I double-checked every single zone to confirm it was not enabled. Cloudflare’s support has been useless so far at explaining how it’s possible. They’re just going in circles with “that’s the charge.”

I don’t understand how it’s physically possible to receive a charge related to a feature that’s not even in use. Unless…

Because I was once subscribed to the feature, that free “subscription” aka enrollment stays active, but doesn’t incur usage unless it’s active for a zone, and Cloudflare is willfully or unintentionally having a billing curfuffle where they’re erroneously billing me for a service they’re guessing I’m using due to the enrollment. I’m hoping it’s not intentional.

As you may or may not know, Cloudflare is mostly usage based fees. A lot of that usage you just have to believe Cloudflare is accurately reporting the figures. But, I don’t see how that reporting is honest when receiving a charge for a feature I’m not even using.

Now I’m sceptical and wondering if they’re doing something dodgy and have been overcharging me in other ways, thinking it would go unnoticed. If you use Cloudflare I suggest reviewing your own past/current billing history.
