As quote posts get ever closer on Mastodon I again cross my fingers that they implement it in such a way that is more intentional than just copying what twitter had. That's the route that Bluesky has taken and one of the worst aspects of quote posts is now prevalent that platform.

To wit, people you follow for some of their content, say music, and they are constantly quote posting shitty news and shitty takes, maybe giving their 2cents, but essentially saying, "look at this shitty thing" or "mock this shitty person." And your choices are either block that person, or block everyone that they quote, which... who's got energy for that?

There's got to be a way to turn off someone's quote posts in the same way that you can turn off boosts. And content filters should apply to the quotes as well.
