I live on a council estate close to a #parkrun and have been thinking about the lack of participation from my neighbours. I think the barriers are
* the cost of proper running shoes
* a cultural thing where #running is seen as just the preserve of the white middle classes
* maybe a fear of looking stupid and feeling out of place?
I’d like to think that a wider demographic could enjoy the benefits of running, but there are clearly barriers.
