This conversation isn't necessarily directed to me, but it might help clarify for people that I prefer using "children" because its *supposed* to be clarifying: basically when I say it, I mean someone younger than teenaged, and usually before puberty. There's some crossover with "adolescent" around the 12ish year range, but it's still a lot more precise.

However, definitions have gotten so mixed up nowadays that people will often broadly equate anyone under 18 as a "child". So I'll say things like "I don't think adults should have sexual contact with children" and people will pounce on me like "Okay wow, seriously? So you think it's always wrong no matter what, even if one person is 16 and the other is 18??" Like no bitch, that's a whole different sentence 😂
