A secular argument (which I subscribe to) is that countries have to work together by consensus. (we don't do that, we suffer under a "might is right" sort of morality known as capitalism).
A religious argument - if God wants those boundaries then God can bring them about, meanwhile the prophets dictate how we should behave - with love, mercy, peace and justice.
