In Germany, we actually saw this same dynamic, on a more regional scale. In the 1980s and 1990s, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, former East Germany sank temporarily into anarchy.

Was anarchy a Normie Nirvana? Nope. It just opened them up to Kohl's crony capitalistic buddies buying up all of the state of East Germany's productive industries, for pennies on the dollar. The _Raubtier-Kapitalisten_ then went on to shut down any potential competitors, that they had bought, and fired all of the workers. The workers then went on the dole and German wages have been surpressed ever since.
