The fact, that the brid.gy think exists and works, means, that BlueSky is somehow open, via the AT protocol.

But being open is not equivalent to being decentralised.

Bluesky is centralised thing, which is open enough, that it can federate. But more or less federates as a whole, as an integrated systems, and there are serious limitations.

Still, we cannot force people to distrust BlueSky and trust us. And any attempt to complicate the federation would lead them to trust us even less. All we can hope for is that they will at least know, that we are here, that we exist, and maybe one day join or rejoin us.

I see people moving from Fedi (mostly Mastodon) accounts to BlueSky accounts, simply because of bandwagon effect. Mastodon lost them because of unnecessary implementation decisions, like not automatically backfilling timeline of followed accounts, which were new to given instance. This was bigger deal, that it seemed, because this single feature (or rather lack of feature) limited target audience to people, like us... mostly experienced computer nerds.
