I’m thinking of the principles of liberalism. There are anti-capitalist arguments within liberalism such as those advanced by David Ellerman. What you’re referring to with the term, “actually existing liberalism,” doesn’t adhere to the principles of liberalism. One reason is that it is capitalist among others. Our understanding of liberalism as a coherent political philosophy can evolve as new arguments are made to be quite different from what most historical liberals have advocated.
