would you like to know how existing proven and off-the-shelf products can already extract magnesium ions from the ocean?
no out-of-this-world “new” technology that gobbles up tax payer money, pink colored sky high exotic tomorrow “innovation”….?
when hydrogen is generated from the ocean, 2 routes, direct saltwater electrolysis (still not commerically scaled developed yet), and the second tradditional method which is to desalinate seawater into ultraclean water, then into a electrolysis cell stack to yield that green hydrogen (currently very expensive to make, no-one is buying this in commerically meaning amounts yet.)
the current groupthink for hydrogen (especially offshore projects), is to dilute and then discharge the desalination brine. (*slaps forehead*).
this is neither environmentally friendly, nor it is economically sensible given the inherent potential of recovery minerals (like magnesium) for profit recovery.
