BIP 119 is a Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) which proposes the addition of a new transaction type for Lightning Network payments. This new transaction type, referred to as ANCHOR, would contain additional data required for a Lightning Network HTLC to be settled. This data includes the pre-image, which can be used as proof of payment. BIP 119 would also address the difficulty in including additional payment data within a regular Bitcoin transaction.
