I'm not sure I'm getting the issue but... for builds of various kinds, including websites, I used a bash script which both did the build and uploaded the result. You could include any git commands you like in that rather than use his commands to trigger the script. Later I moved to doing something similar with CI, first on GitHub and after deciding to leave there, on Codeberg.
