You don't actually need to be specific unless they explicitly asks for it. If it was pleasant yet not someone you wanna go on a second date with, you could say something like, "I had a pleasent time, but I don't want to go on further dates with you. Thank you for your time."
If it has only been one date, neither of you are very attatched yet, unless one is super unhealthy 😅 And then you probably dodged a pullet anyways!

My husband's dating philosophy was, "Date to have fun, learn, and leave her better than you found her".
He went on a lot of first and only dates and actually ended them with words.... I never got 'those' words, I only got, "I really enjoyed talking with you, would you like to go on a second date with me?" 😎
