"content": "Today I started early and drove through the West MacDonnell Ranges. The road out there was sealed, but it was floodway central! \n\nCrest, floodway. Rinse and repeat, hundreds of times over!\n\nI crossed three small waterways outward bound, but when I tried to go to Helen Gorge, the water over the road was too much for me to attempt.\n\nI went to Ormiston Gorge first (furtherest out my van could go) where I did a short (1.5hr) hike. This was followed by stops on the way back to Alice Springs at the Ochre Pits, Serpentine Gorge, Ellery Creek Big Hole and Simpsons Gap.\n\nThe West MacDonnells are stunning. As you drive you have ranges on both sides of the road and Mt Sonder (which many climb at the the end of the Larapinta Trail to watch the sunrise) is visible and standing tall from a long way off.\n\nEnjoy some random photos.
