This was the equivalent of 1.83 oz of gold on that standard on 40 hours
$4420 gold X 1.83 = $8088 per 40 hours
$8088 / 40 hours =$202.2 per hour today
We're essentially just hosed. Americans also can't afford homes because we've imported millions of foreigners that are willing to work for less or are being given money from the government. There's also millions here illegally which drives prices of homes up.
No one wants to talk realistically about any of this and the majority of people can only talk about inflation because they don't want to be deemed racist or antisemitic.
