I would argue that rhetorically, it is impossible to make a simple (true) statement about AI that fulfills the understanding of people external to computer science, and those internal to computer science. Primarily because we're getting deep into the weeds of semantics and memetic weight of words.

My original sentence was intended for an audience which includes readers outside the tech sector. For them...the argument: LLM is not AI is true. (rhetorically).

For you, with a deeper understanding of the information architecture of the AI umbrella, it is not true, because you can cognizantly argue the difference between awareness and data sorting.

I put it to you that most people could not differentiate between the two in practical application.
