You earn an extra tenner, £2 is taken as tax. Then 55% of what's left is removed from the UC, which is another £4.40. So your actual cash that month is only £3.60 more than if you hadn't earned that tenner.
If I've done my sums right, an extra hour at minimum wage nets you a pathetic £4.40, which might not pay the bus fare home.
And then they wonder why people aren't interested in doing more work.
