All good - appreciate the convo :)
Was also skeptical at first, but already had a vague idea about PKARR (Public Key Addressable Resource Records) and the implication of being able to have an internet-type-thing without ICANN and without IP tables... both of which are permissioned.
Then I learned a bit more about Kademlia, which is a component of PKARR - possibly when I was baked - and I think that's when I had the 'mind blown' moment... which continued and is probably why I'm so hype about this particular project. I honestly think that it might be more important than Bitcoin. Again, not everyone is gonna adopt early.
Not gonna be able to spin up a homeserver for a few days since I have a few days of duty on my local mountain. Will let you know when I do. There's a bot called Franky trained on the project + repo, so if you have time to check out the public beta at pubky.app you can tag him with your questions.
