Again, I was reminded of this. Today I was walking down the road with my youngest. I greet a new neighbour who moved in down the road, they didn't wave back—we're at the waving stage of the neighbour relationship—so I guessed that as she was talking to someone maybe she didn't spot me so i would wave and say: "Hi!"

And she calls out: "Did you wave at me? I'm not wearing contacts, so I can't see you at such a distance, it's just a blur."

We got to talking—which my youngest is never so fond of, as they think I'm a chatterbox, I wonder where they get it from—and my neighbour told me some of her story. Including their long covid story, not mentioning long covid, obviously, because people like to pretend that covid is over.

We discussed hidden disabilities, deafness, horrid eyesight, lung issues, etc. And the lack of accommodation that society and organisations give to people who can't function at the level some expect them to function at

In the end, after a wonderful conversation, she told me one of my neighbours, lovely fellow, had died a couple of days back due to his emphysema. That was a sad moment
