I've gotten fixated on Langshan chiggens. They lay well, but they're gigantically enormous and thus more expensive to feed, so only a few weirdos are keeping the breed alive. Mine are Croad Langshans, which is the English strain of this Asiatic chiggen. There's a German strain, but they don't have the same upright U-shape. I wish more ppl would give them a chance in their backyard flocks, because they are very tough and hardy--I have one that's 5 years old and still laying 3-4 eggs a week--but also calm and adorable.
