Adding a set of fractional olympic plates to the one I have is still cheaper than the others, though less pretty than the pricier options that come with matching weight.

The whole point is the lever. Changing how the weight is distributed on the lever makes the weights you work not comparable but the exercise should be functionally the same.

So Romeo's 10lb isn't the same as my 10lb like it would be on a barbell or a dumbbell. The movement is the same and the muscles worked are the same. I agree with his recommendation to get a fatter handle model but otherwise I don't think your choice will affect your results much at all.

I like that it breaks the direct comparison, it helps me focus on my own path and not get drawn into overdoing it in a pissing contest. Note that I don't even post my weights, just the volume and movement.
