"content": "On-chain bitcoin is transparent for a reason. It's the only way to ensure trustlessness. Watch privacy coins learn this lesson in real time. Learn from their mistakes.\n\nI believe there is a fundamental and unavoidable conflict between privacy and trustlessness. Trustless systems require information to disseminate. Private systems must prevent the spread of information. Builders who don't understand this spectrum are doomed to fall prey to it.\n\nYou cannot achieve perfect privacy and perfect trustlessness in the same system. It's better to build two systems and move value between them as needed. The trust-based system better be resilient to failure; that means lots of little trusted operators rather than one big trust silo.\n\nThat's what I tried to encapsulate in this image. TBD whether ecash can be made verifiable. Much work still to be done.\n\n https://blossom.primal.net/7ef3db2fd39b65164f59e3e9afa9d5ee9bbda2961043d7ad1a7d0fd8414d3554.png ",
