Yes! I'm running Linux and VLC is the best thing I've used with it so far. I open the device in VLC and can take snapshots at will (I added a button to my toolbar for it).
I've tried a bunch of other camera apps and not found any that were functional, stable, or fast. Cheese was OK but had about 1 FPS on previews. guvcview is OK but not user-friendly.
The manual has Linux instructions but they reocmmend camorama which was abandoned years ago.
