I could be wrong about this but it seems to me that mining as a standalone business is screwed from the getgo. All the large scale corporate miners can only exist because hyperbitcoinization hasn't happened yet.
In the future I expect to see two or three segments of miners:
1. Wasted and stranded energy capture.
2. Strategic mining for transaction access
(If mining pools remain centralized, hopefully the do not)
3. Hobbyists
