In the lead up to the civil war, maroon colonies (among other things, fugitive slave camps) were used to attack plantations to liberate slaves. They were liberated territory outside or the control or the state. They drew the US in to the civil war and lead directly to the end of legal slavery (outside of the current caveats).

Today squats and camps are liberated territory. They are where rebels will hide because they are necessarily outside of the capitalist system. Your job, if you stay within capitalism, is to protect them, keep them quiet, and supply them as well as possible.

Liberals, I'm talking to you. If you report camps, you help fascists. It's long past time to stop.

If you have the privilege to stay within the system, your job is to carry supplies, hide people having abortions, and help get people out of the country as needed.

Authoritarianism thrives on fossil fuels. The system needs to sell them in order to pay it's death squads and pay for and equip it's death squads. Expect disruptions in natural gas and gasoline supplies. Expect people to bomb fuel depos and refineries, and make sure you have an eBike or something as a backup plan.

Push for bike friendly infrastructure and mass transit in your local area so you can be more resilient as people attack car and petroleum infrastructure.

Plant a garden, and make sure you grow enough to share.

Talk to your neighbors and make sure they're also preparing. Make sure you have somewhere to go.

Fascism will eat everyone eventually, even if you follow all the rules. Make friends and have an escape plan.
