Is anyone interested in making a community of anti-nostr-slop? Like working on filtering out all AI accounts and to not put "powered by the Nostr protocol" on EVERY SINGLE SITE. *ahem*, sorry. I wrote down a list of standards I want to abide by.
- Ability to block anyone and any kind of content you don't want to see (like blocking channels in a discord-like app, or maybe certain kinds)
- Able to follow others' blocklists--this COULD definitely be a source of centralization and could oust people unfairly because people will probably follow the blocklists of popular accounts. I'm not sure if we can use this. Open to suggestions.
- List of banned words that filters content, maybe regex (we need strong filtering tools if we're going to have a platform that can't be moderated)
- WoT filter at any level of choice. Could be follows only. As in, even DMs from non-follows wouldn't appear.
- All methods of login obviously
- A standardized set of settings. There are a lot of no-brainer settings to give users access to, but we have no standard to keep track of them.
- Standard account key generation--it's a little sus to trust every website to generate your nsec for you. Maybe we could make some kind of embedded element that can be trusted? Not sure if this has legs (no i'm not ai)
- Standard npub profile card--just sick of no standardization of basic features. Not to restrict anything but just to avoid the silly dance of "which client will allow me to do X? I can't remember." For example, primal has a banned words list, but most others don't.
- No bloat
If it doesn't need bitcoin, don't mention it. Just put it in the settings or as a little switch that says "technical users" or "advanced users"
The sites and apps that will live beyond a week are the ones that do something that meets a demand, and do that one thing well.
This idea makes me excited to do nostr.
