I mean, the reason that I usually find such laws abhorrent is that we don't need to pressure parents to be even more controlling of kids. But I think guns are an exceptional case. I don't think parents should be held responsible if a kid uses drugs or hangs out with the wrong crowd or posts something on social media. But access to a gun is something that a parent might be able to monitor without having to be super controlling.
