On a related note, on plebbit I responded to a bunch of dumbass zoomers saying that artists didn't *actually* consent to AI scraping because the ToS of the platforms that did it are "unethical" and therefore shouldn't apply.
I told them it's a legally binding contract that they entered into with full autonomy and no coercion, and that they could choose to *not* do business with the "unethical" companies and instead choose to use platforms that aren't "unethical", such as Lemmy and Mastodon.
I was then told that all of their friends and potential customers are on the big "unethical" platforms so therefore they had no choice and were coerced and also I'm a corporate bootlicker. For telling them to stop doing business with massive platforms.
I think they're just addicted to clout and marvel movies and are willing to give up any amount of freedom for these things, but simultaneously aren't willing to take any personal responsibility for that choice.
