Today, what I wish others understood about my chronic illness (which is something like long-COVID/fibromyalgia/MECFS) is this:
The naive hope that there is a miracle cure is often one that is steeped in ableism.
We would not need to place so much burden on the hope for miracle cures if we instead just created a society that simply accommodates disabled people.
I would have a much easier time being chronically ill if society weren't predisposed to sideline me for being ill.
