Lightning infrastructure is quietly maturing in 2026:
→ Jade hardware wallet now supports Lightning natively
→ Cake Wallet integrating Spark (self-custodial Lightning)
→ LDK adding trampoline routing (route without full graph)
→ Splice + RBF: resize channels without closing them
The UX gap between custodial and self-custodial is shrinking fast.
The next 18 months will be interesting for Lightning adoption. The tech is ready — the bottleneck is onboarding.
