not sure there is a way to follow the local timeline of another instance mixed with your timeline, but some clients will let you pin a remote timeline for easy access. Here's how I can do it in Moshidon on Android, I think Mona on iOS can do it too.

Tap on a user on the instance, then tap on 'bne.social' on their profile, view server info, ⋮ > Local timeline, then tap the pin in the top right. After that my home tab has a bne.social option in it.
