I just read this. I don’t have a racial take on the questions raised, because I think there is a lot of individual variation within race, and of course, men and women of different races are increasingly getting together. I do suppose white men are still the prestige men, and, as you say, (young) white women are still “the most high profile woman-product.”
I keep thinking about how to make female separatism more appealing, and I wonder if we can make it happen through a back-door method?
My idea is this:
Encourage very high standards. Insist upon only associating, and encouraging other women to associate, with men who have the qualities we really want. They should be willing to provide financially while also viewing women as the true heads of the household. Porn is a total deal breaker, i.e. finding out that a man uses porn should be like finding out that he has a closet full of dead cats. Add to that list as you wish.
If we take this tactic, women won’t feel that they’re making such a scary decision. They could end up with a man, after all. It might happen. However, in practice, we would have a nation (or a world) of spinsters.
What do you think?
It’s really young women who need to be reached. We older women aren’t really woman-products at all. We can say we’re swearing off men the same way we say we’re not buying any yachts this year or we’ve given up unicorn meat for Lent.
I know there are aspects of separatism outside of romance, but I think the romantic aspect is hardest to sell. I’d be happy not to have men in my home, ever, if someone would show me a local directory of female plumbers, electricians, and other home service providers. That’s a matter of availability rather than desire.
