The doom rectangle that I'm posting these thoughts on claims an unreasonable percentage of my attention. The algorithms (both machine and human) that decide what gets promoted here are biased towards outrage. It's so much easier to get people's attention by making them angry. Every now and again I'm reminded of what the internet can be, when I get sucked into a fun little game, or a new webcomic, or have a silly interaction with the fediverse.
