My local bank manager just pulled me aside. “Hey you’re into those crypto-coins, right?”
She goes on to tell me about an older customer who wired over $1.6 million to “an app”. She said she thinks what happened is that someone sent him a fake link for Kraken and he used the wire instructions they provided. She said the bank can’t help and asked me if I could. Sadly the only advice I could leave her with was to file a claim with the FBI.
I have been considering hosting a class locally to help people understand Bitcoin and how to avoid some of the scams. This is pushing me to move forward with it. I plan to make it very clear that although I want to help, everyone is responsible for their own choices. Last thing I want is someone to get scammed and blame me, but someone needs to be available to help people navigate this transition.
Any good resources for a 2-hour introductory meeting? I was thinking of starting with the What’s The Problem video and then opening it up to questions and having a list of trusted resources for people to take home. Has anyone done this? What worked and what didn’t?
