Politicians kinda do play a superhero role for Hollywood-adled normies. They exist purely on TV in stage-managed appearances. Easy to forget they’re just people standing at a podium talking, defended by regular human beings who, while trained and skilled, aren’t infallible. Seeing this demonstrated in real time breaks the facade. I think everyone would do better to remember that. Powerful people at the end of the day are just humans and it’s more flimsy than you think. Not advocating anything but it’s kinda sobering to think about. First time I thought about this was when I deconstructed the term “Ivory Towers”after hearing the Sam Hyde quote about these people having “names and addresses.” They don’t live in literal towers at a different height than us. They’re roughly at ground level just like we are. And their power doesn’t transcend physical boundaries. It’s all just one big social contract. Weird stuff.
