☧ = Christos (Χριστός) simply means 'anointed one.'
From the Greek verb χρίω ('to anoint'). In the Septuagint it translates Hebrew mashiach and is used for high priests, Israel's kings, even the pagan king Cyrus (Isa 45:1).
Nothing in the word itself means 'Yahweh's eschatological Messiah.' That narrower sense is later Jewish expectation, not the basic meaning.
Early Christians, including Marcion, simply applied the ordinary title to Iēsous as the one anointed by the higher God.
